“This was my second successful surrogacy, but first time with ANU. I had a support person who was local to us and available 24/7 — even at the birth as a Doula. ANU made me feel supported, valued, and treated like a human being from beginning to end — and beyond!”

The ANU Sisterhood is a heart-led community created to support, celebrate, and walk alongside our egg donors and surrogates throughout every step of their journey.

This program was designed to ensure no donor or surrogate ever feels alone in the process. Within the Sisterhood, members are surrounded by a network of compassionate women who understand the emotional, physical, and personal nature of this experience. They offer a listening ear, share insights, and provide encouragement through screenings, appointments, procedures, and everything in between. It’s about building connection, offering comfort, and lifting each other up.

This isn’t just a support program—it’s a space where genuine friendships grow, where every question is welcome, and where shared experiences become a source of strength and empowerment.

At ANU, we believe egg donation and surrogacy are more than medical processes—they are sacred, emotional, and deeply personal journeys. The Sisterhood is here to honour that.

Make memories to last a lifetime

Twenty years ago I carried a little girl for a family in Australia, and I never expected how much love would continue to grow from that one decision. Going back last year to see Isabelle graduate and now this year, with my own children, to watch Caitlyn graduate, and then hugging them, felt like life coming full circle in the sweetest way.

This moment captured something I will never forget… the laughter, the closeness, and the quiet knowing that some connections stay with you forever. Seeing my kids fold into that love so naturally reminded me why this experience has always stayed so close to my heart.

Every journey looks different, but moments like this remind me how much love can grow from one decision. You never forget the families you help. Sometimes they become part of yours.

  • When Does the ANU Surrogate Mentorship Program Start?

The Mentorship program starts almost immediately after you’ve matched with your Intended Parent(s), and will last throughout your journey.

We’ve seen many life-long friendships naturally spring out of this program, which helps validate the impact of connection and community.

  • Why A Surrogate Mentorship Program?

When you first become a surrogate, it can feel as if there are more questions than answers.

We believe Surrogacy goes beyond the act of bringing life into the world. Surrogacy is a community effort – and the stronger the community, the healthier the Surrogacy will be.

All of our mentors are volunteers who have asked to join the ANU team even after their Surrogacy is done because they believe in it so much. It is really the therapeutic value of one mentor helping another. When you first become a Surrogate, you’ll think your questions are unique (until you meet others who’ve been in the same boat).

Community creates healthy Surrogacies which in turn creates healthy babies.

  • What Qualifications Do Surrogate Mentors Have?

To begin with, they need to be experienced Surrogates. But we also screen for women that are empathetic and also have a great personality. These are women who loved their experiences so much and want to help you too. Who knows, perhaps one day you’ll be a mentor too!
